The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the historical significance of beer and to celebrate its contribution to society and the UK economy.

The day of Beer Day Britain coincides with the day the Magna Carta was sealed 800 years ago in 1215. This is significant to the beer industry because Clause 35 of the Magna Carta stated Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn, namely ‘the London quarter’’. It not only highlighted the significance of beer in Britain at that time, it was undoubtedly instrumental in establishing beer as a favoured drink in countries all over the world.

The initiator and driving force behind Beer Day Britain is Jane Peyton Britian’s Beer Sommelier of the Year 2015, author, and Friends of Glass ambassador.

Beer Day Britain is supported by major organisations in the beer industry including Britain’s Beer Alliance, British Beer & Pub Association, Society of Independent Brewers, Campaign for Real Ale, Cask Marque, Independent Family Brewers of Britain, Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers and the British Hop Association.

To join in and support Beer Day Britain, take part in or host an event and tweet using the #CheersBDB hashtag. And remember – beer tastes best in glass!

Visit www.beerdaybritain.co.uk for more information.

Taste of London visitors will have a chance to experience beer tasting and meet Jane from 17-21st June at Regents Park.
