Weleda UK  are a business showing how heritage, innovation and environmental responsibility can come together in one beautifully packaged product range.

For more than 100 years, Weleda has built a reputation for natural beauty, holistic wellbeing and thoughtful product design. Today, that same long-term mindset is reflected in its commitment to glass packaging across several of its iconic lines.

A sustainable choice backed by action

Weleda’s distinctive green glass bottles are more than recognisable on the shelf, they are part of a considered sustainability strategy. Its recyclable glass bottles are made from 85% recycled glass, made up of post-consumer and post-industrial recycled content. Using recycled cullet also helps reduce the energy needed in manufacturing compared with using virgin raw materials alone.

That’s the kind of practical progress we love to see; packaging choices that reduce waste, lower resource use and support circular systems.

Infinitely recyclable, again and again

One of glass’s greatest strengths is that it can be recycled repeatedly without losing quality. Weleda highlights that green glass can be recycled indefinitely, helping valuable materials stay in use for longer and reducing the need for new raw materials.

In a world where consumers are looking for packaging they can trust, glass offers a simple and proven solution.

Protecting what’s inside naturally

For a brand rooted in natural ingredients and botanical formulations, packaging performance matters too. Glass is non-reactive and provides a strong barrier against external elements such as oxygen, helping to preserve the integrity of sensitive formulations.

That makes glass a smart fit for premium skincare, wellness and beauty products where quality is essential.

Heritage meets modern responsibility

Weleda’s story began over a century ago, yet its packaging choices show a brand still evolving with modern expectations. Alongside its use of recycled glass, the company also highlights broader packaging improvements including recycled board transit materials and initiatives to improve recyclability across its range.

For Friends of Glass, being a Glass Champion is about more than packaging alone. It’s about leadership, consistency and proving that sustainability can be embedded into everyday consumer choices.

Congratulations to our Glass Champion

By choosing high recycled content glass, embracing recyclability and aligning packaging with product values, Weleda UK is setting an example for the beauty and wellbeing sector.

We’re delighted to recognise Weleda UK as a Glass Champion, and we hope their example inspires even more brands to discover the benefits of glass.
